About six months ago Joe and Adrienne, who were base staff here, went to visit this area that we now call, “The Haitian Community”. They just went out to play with the kids and talk to the people to establish bonds of friendship with them. Later, with the help of a visiting outreach team, they cleared some land and built a couple soccer goals for the men to use in this community. They also invited teams and other volunteers to come out and be part of this "outreach project”. They shared Bible lessons with the kids and after a few months God put in the heart of the whole YWAM staff to adopt this community of Haitians with the purpose that they can know God’s love. As YWAM staff we are going out together every Saturday to do a children’s program where we share with them Bible stories, we pray and spend time with the people that live in the area. We are also supported by missionary outreach groups that have come out to the DR and partnered with this ministry. God has started working in the hearts of the adults and children of this community, but there is still so much more to be done. We need more teams to support this new ministry and your prayers that God will continue helping us to reach out to these families.
Below I have put pictures of some of the kids that we are working with in “The Haitian Community”. Please pray for these kids and the ministry God has started there.
