have had! I’ll start from the beginning.
My grampa, Pa Troy, so generously drove up from California and picked up my family to bring us home to Mexico. We had a great time traveling with Pa Troy.
We were AMAZED at how well Ian did traveling. He was content the whole trip; he only cried to let us know that he was either hungry or needed a new diaper. Otherwise, he would look out the window or sleep soundly as we drove. We arrived to Woodland at the end of the day on our second day of travel. We spent a few days with our family there then continued on to visit other family and friends in Roseville, Dixon, Vacaville and Monterrey. Thank you to everyone who welcomed us in their home, cooked yummy meals and had great conversation (or let me sleep!). It was wonderful being able to introduce Ian to people that we care about and to get to see you all as well.
Pa Troy was able to bring us all the way down south of San Diego. We met my
cousin for breakfast the next morning, then we parted ways and drove down to
Ensenada, Mexico. It felt right as we drove into Mexico as a family. Especially as we think back to when we first left in June 2011 to move to the Dominican Republic. It was in our hearts to return to Mexico someday as a family of three. In this moment, we recognized how God gave us the desire of our hearts and we were so grateful yet again for our sweet son.
We spent one night in Ensenada, then drove down to San Ignacio to spend time with Danny’s family. It was great to see Abuela Rita again and for some of Danny’s family to meet Ian. Of course he was the center of attention everywhere we went.
Danny preached on Sunday at church and Danae shared with the ladies about trusting God. We drove back up to Ensenada with Danny’s mom and sister Silvia and had a week to rest and settle in a bit on campus before our official return date.
We love being back at YWAM Ensenada. We’re enjoying getting to reconnect with old friends and start new relationships with other staff. Ian is starting to warm up to some people, which is great and so fun. For now, Danny is assisting the chef in the kitchen and helping in other areas as needed like Homes of Hope and translating. My official job is, “Mommy”. It’s a huge blessing to be able to focus on this new ministry of raising our son. We've also been able to attend some worship sessions with the Mission Adventures team and went out to translate on Sunday for the kid’s program at church.
