Here in Ensenada at the YWAM campus, we will be having a Doula/Childbirth Educator Seminar from January 6-11, 2014. This is the description my friend gives about this seminar:
Learn WHAT to teach and HOW to teach pregnant women in a classroom setting or one-on-one. Learn labor comfort techniques and how to provide physical and emotional support to the laboring woman. No previous birth or medical experience required. -Tammy V.
I am very excited about this opportunity for ME to learn how to teach pregnant women and to maybe one day become a doula. The World English Dictionary defines a doula as: a woman who is trained to provide support to women and their families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the period of time following the birth.
I honestly don't know what God wants to do with me in this area, but for the last year I feel like He has ignited a passion in me for this. I would like to attend this seminar and start the process of learning how to teach women about labor as well as learn how to be a support to pregnant women and their families during labor in the future.
There are five books (one of them being a text book) that I have to read before the seminar in January. I've been able to find them online for a great price and bought them so that I can start reading as soon as they arrive. Please pray for me as I start this journey and for clarity as God works in me.
If anyone is interested in attending this seminar, here is the link to register. It will cost $395 which includes housing, transportation to and from San Diego, food and the seminar. Send me a message if you want more information.
