The first race Danny ever saw was when he was 8 years old. His dad took Danny and his little brother to see the motorcycles, trucks and modified beetles. After that, every two years they watched the Baja 1000, which is a race that drives around the entire Baja Peninsula. He most liked to see the trucks, the speed and all the adrenaline! It's a time where a lot of people go out of their homes, and gather to watch the races together. In a way, it's part of the culture of the whole Baja peninsula. (I think the schools even close on the race days!)
Here are pictures he took of some of the racers.
I couldn't believe how exciting it was as each motorcyle, then all the cars and later the trucks drove by. We drove out the night before and camped out by the race course and woke up at 5:30 am to get ready for the first set of racers to drive by.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to see and experience one of Danny's hobbies. And I think the most exciting part for me was to see how excited Danny was during the whole race. I don't think this time his favorite racer won, but we definitely enjoyed our weekend watching.
