Last month I had an amazing opportunity and pleasure of translating for the first time in my life! Yes, I’ve translated lots of papers, newsletters and short dialog between teams and families. But I actually translated 100% of ministry done in the course of 4 days here in Ensenada. Our friends invited us to join their group made up of three different churches from Dixon and Woodland, CA, last month as they needed translators. I was up for the challenge and ready for God to use me. This is in an area that I’ve been too afraid to dive into before, but I knew that I needed to be obedient to the Lord and use my gift for HIS glory. But you know what?! It went SO well and that was only by the grace of God.
The group we worked with has been coming to Ensenada for several years through another ministry here, helping a local pastor and his family. They have also been focusing their energy on building a church (with the cooperation of other
visiting groups over time). While Danny and a group of guys worked on building the roof of the church, I was with the other part of the team.
being able to let everyone communicate with each other. We did fun crafts at the end of teaching time and shared lots of laughs and smiles.
Ian did SO well during his first time going out to do ministry. There was never a lack of arms to hold him. Everybody loved him! We could tell he loved them too, as he would show off a huge grin when we would arrive and see them every day. He was always happy and content, and wasn’t afraid to fall asleep in his new friends’ arms. It felt weird just to see him when he was hungry, but we’ve caught up on our snuggle since!
Love, Danae Danny and Ian Martinez
